Importing your old save game will influence the current state of your Witcher 3 world. Once your files are in there, start Witcher 3 and verify that the game can see your files as seen below: Import Enabled Just copy your Witcher 2 save directory from the Steam directory “:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\userdata\\20920\remote” and place that in the Witcher 2 directory “:\USERS\\My Documents\Witcher 2\gamesaves.” Copy the files to your Witcher 2 savegame directory in the My Documents folder If you want your Witcher 2 save on Steam imported to Witcher 3, just copy the content of this folder and create the expected directory in your My Documents folder. The Witcher 3 will look for save files in the “:\USERS\\My Documents\Witcher 2\gamesaves” but Steam Cloud saving when enabled will place your files in a different directory. You’d be glad to know its just the game not looking at your save directories the right way especially if you’ve played Witcher 2 on Steam. So here’s a quick guide to show you how to import Witcher 2 saves to Witcher 3. Its been reported that you can import Witcher 2 saves to your shiny new copy of Witcher 3 game only to find out that when you start the game you only see the option to “Simulate Witcher 2 Save.” This is quite upsetting for someone who has probably invested a lot of time pre-launch to get Geralt ready for monster-slaying.
